Medical and Additional Expenses up to £10,000,000

If you suffer illness, or an accident involving injury, the Underwriters will, on medical advice, pay for medical or hospital expenses incurred outside the Insured Person's normal country of residence.

Medical Emergencies

For peace of mind, a full 24-hour Medical Emergency Service is provided by Speciality Assistance, including: Medical Assistance, Air Ambulance and Repatriation, Medical Escorts, Road Ambulance and Return Home, and Long Haul Repatriation. Please note: Cover is excluded for any pre-existing medical condition from which you, or any person (such as a relative) upon whom travel depends, is suffering. If in doubt, call our medical helpline in confidence on 0844 892 0954.

Criminal Injuries up to £5,000

If you’re the victim of an assault and receive criminal injuries, the hospital benefit is increased to £100 per day, paid as compensation, provided there is medical and police evidence.

Personal Liability up to £2,000,000

If you’re found legally liable for accidental bodily injury to another person, or accidental damage to their property, there is up to £2,000,000, including legal expenses, to indemnify you against any award made by a court. Please note: This doesn’t include liability for motor vehicles, motorcycles, watercraft or aircraft, where insurance should already be in force, arranged by the hire-company or owners, in accordance with local legislation.

Personal Accident up to £25,000

If you suffer accidental bodily injury, or death while travelling, a benefit of £25,000 is available for loss of an eye, a limb or permanent total disablement (£10,000 in the event of death). Death benefit is limited to £1,000 for persons aged 66 and over or 15 and under.

Cancellation or Curtailment up to £5,000

If you have to cancel your journey due to serious illness or injury, death, quarantine, jury service, witness call, redundancy or major damage at your home or business, the Underwriters will repay whatever amount is not refundable by the Travel Agent or Tour Operator with whom you booked. Cover extends to include cancellation caused for the above reasons to your travelling companion if they’ve purchased insurance, or a relative in the UK, or a dependent business partner. If your journey is curtailed while you’re overseas for similar reasons, a proportionate refund will be made of inclusive travel costs. If you’re travelling independently and cannot use your air tickets to return to the UK, the Underwriters will reimburse additional travelling expenses, and consider a claim for the value of unused sections of the journey. The claims service can normally assist in having ‘non-transferable’ tickets amended or upgraded where an emergency return to the UK is needed. Please note: Cover is excluded for any pre-existing medical condition from which you, or any person (such as a relative) upon whom travel depends, is suffering. If in doubt, call our medical helpline in confidence on 0870 906 3140.

Luggage and Personal Effects up to £2,000

For loss, damage or theft of your luggage, clothing or personal effects while travelling, on a pay basis and not ‘new for old’. N.B. there is a limit of £250 for any one article, pair or set and £350 in total for all valuable items, including jewellery and photographic equipment.

Temporary loss of luggage up to £100

If your luggage fails to arrive with you, or is delayed by at least 24 hours, £100 is recoverable for immediate necessities, even if your luggage later turns up.

Excess

Please note that an excess of £50 applies to most claims.
