Screening at UK Airports and Eurostar terminals for Ebola introduced

Advice from ABTA 10 October 2014.

Downing Street have released a statement that the UK will implement enhanced screening procedures for Ebola at both London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports and at UK Eurostar terminals.

It is understood that enhanced screening will only apply to passengers arriving from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea from indirect flights (there are no direct flights in operation from these destinations) and that it will entail questioning around recent travel history, who the person has been in contact with, onward travel plans and a medical assessment possibly being required.

As this statement from Downing Street has only recently been made, we will await further information from the airport authorities and Eurostar terminals on how they plan to implement the screening procedure and will circulate information as we learn more.
